Over the years, Troy has managed to maintain a slower pace without sacrificing convenience. The area has kept a bounty of lush, open space, in keeping with its pioneer heritage. 

Pioneers had lived in the area that is now Troy since at least 1790, but the city itself was not founded until 1819. It was established as the county seat of Lincoln County, and to this day is its largest city.

Like many cities west of the Missouri River, Troy experienced a population boom in the last two decades. That population growth also encouraged more businesses to come to Troy, making it both a convenient place to live and a stop for tourists.

Troy lies on highway 61, which turns into interstate 64/40 closer to Wentzville. It is about an hour from the city of St. Louis and 45 minutes from Lambert St. Louis International airport.

Homes here are known for their simplicity and charm. Though Troy is a growing city, it is still possible to purchase undeveloped land or farming acreage.

Troy’s historic downtown business district promises a great day-trip with a rare shopping experience. Main Street in Troy is home to many family-owned businesses, some of which opened in the 1800s and early 1900s.

If parks are more your thing, Troy’s picturesque parks feature walking trails, grassy picnic areas, a duck pond, and a skate park. Cuivre River State Park (and other natural wildlife areas) also serve up a dose of the outdoors, and serve as a gentle reminder of the wild beauty of this corner of America.

Troy is part of the award-winning Lincoln County R-III School District, and home to Troy Buchanan High School. Many families settle in Troy for its good schools.

Fairground Park | Features four baseball fields, three soccer fields, basketball courts, skating ramps, a tire playground, and a traditional playground. 

Avery Park | Spans seven acres with a traditional playground, a half-mile walking trail lined with park benches, six barbecue pits and a pavilion that is available for rent. 

Weinand Park | The park has five acres and features a walking trail, a traditional playground and a grassy field for picnicking. 

Woods Fort | Woods Fort is Troy’s historic park area with two log cabins and a memorial marker describing the historical background.
